Overview:

Range of task chairs suitable for seating in office environments. At end of life chairs in this range can be taken back by the manufacturer and broken down for components to be recycled or refurbished for sale.

Product Description:

A range of FSC and GECA certified multi-task office chairs which are largely mechanically fixed so that they can easily be disassembled. Chairs in range are Tecton, Sitz, Generation, Piazza, Magnum and Champion.

During the manufacturing process all foam off-cuts are collected and recycled. All foam crumbs are processed into either carpet underlay or blocks or bonded crumbs.

Whilst the product is made from virgin materials this is offset at end of use as the chairs components are recycled or re-used. The fabric used in the chair is stripped from the seat and back and returned to the supplier for pulping. The seat and back foam is removed and returned to the manufacturer for shredding and re-use. Seat timbers, gas spring casings and 5 star bases are re-used at the factory after inspection. All plastic components carry resin codes for recycling and will be sent away ending up with recyclers into PET fit products. The only component remaining that is not re-used on recycling is the mechanism which will have passed its life expectancy.

Manufacturer states that their preferred fabric choice is wool with non-toxic dyes however, the fabric is ultimately determined by purchaser.

Timber used in the plywood shells of the chair is FSC certified.

The product has a 7yr warranty for commercial applications. Stem also offers a finance/ rental package to customers.

Stem offer a product stewardship service whereby returned products are either disassembled and components are refurbish and reused, or the products passed to second-hand furniture retailers for refurbishment and sale to the market.
